[Saba Sports News] Ligue 1 club Lyon is facing difficulties due to debt issues, leading to a ban on new signings and restrictions on their payroll. As a precautionary measure, if Lyon cannot improve its financial situation, they will be relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the season. Recently, star player Nemanja Matic was asked about this issue during a press conference, but he seemed reluctant to provide a detailed response. Matic stated, “Footballers should focus on their own jobs. We are paid to play and represent the club. I am satisfied with what they said. I am confident that if there are problems, they will resolve them. We just want to focus on the next steps.” Matic joined Lyon in January 2024 for a transfer fee of approximately €2.6 million, which attracted significant attention at the time. The fee reflects Lyon’s recognition of Matic’s capabilities, especially for a 35-year-old veteran.
