[Saba Sports News] Before the F1 Mexican Grand Prix, McLaren filed an appeal regarding Lando Norris’s five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits while overtaking Max Verstappen during the United States Grand Prix. However, this appeal was ultimately rejected, putting McLaren in a passive position. After reviewing the evidence, the officials determined that McLaren’s submitted materials did not meet the standards for a re-examination and dismissed their request for review. Additionally, the FIA also rejected McLaren’s appeal, stating in their announcement that “the team’s request for a review was aimed at correcting factual errors in race decisions; any new evidence must prove such errors, but McLaren could not provide such evidence; they merely hoped for a re-judgment of this incident.” This outcome means that Verstappen successfully retained his third-place finish at the U.S. Grand Prix.
