[Saba Sports News] The Badminton Association of Malaysia has announced the latest coaching structure for the national team, with Misbun Ramdan, who previously served as the coach for the national youth team, promoted to the position of national women’s singles coach. Misbun Ramdan comes from a notable lineage; his father is the renowned Malaysian coach Misbun Sidek. The legacy of the Sidek family as national badminton coaches continues with him. In an interview, 64-year-old Misbun expressed great confidence in his son, stating that Ramdan possesses all the qualifications to be an excellent coach. He performed well during his youth and was a national champion; he holds a coaching certification and has the skills, character, and charm to lead this generation of players forward. He also has good communication skills and practices with the players, easily winning their hearts. Previously, he served as Misbun’s assistant and has accumulated rich coaching experience over the years, teaching him everything he knows. Records show that Ramdan was one of Malaysia’s most talented players from 2012 to 2014, having won the national men’s singles championship in 2012. Unfortunately, Ramdan suffered an Achilles injury in 2014 and was unable to fully recover after surgery, leading him to decide to transition into coaching. When Misbun served as the director of the Malaysian national youth team, Ramdan was hired as an assistant. Last year, after Misbun’s contract was terminated early, Ramdan also found himself unemployed.
