[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, former Manchester City player and current Ajax reserve team coach Kizito Musampa has been arrested on suspicion of tax fraud. The 48-year-old Musampa was once a star player for Manchester City. He was on loan at Manchester City from Atlético Madrid between 2004 and 2006, making 41 appearances. The left winger scored goals against Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Middlesbrough. In 2006, he transferred to the Turkish club Trabzonspor. Musampa represented the Dutch national team 43 times and won the Champions League and two Eredivisie titles with Ajax. Currently, he is an assistant coach for the Ajax reserves. Reports indicate that Dutch police arrested Musampa on Tuesday. During a search of his residence, police seized some documents and luxury watches. Musampa’s accountant was also detained. Musampa was released on Wednesday afternoon. The Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) accuses Musampa of claiming to be a tax resident abroad while working and earning income in the Netherlands, allegedly defrauding the government of over €100,000. According to Dutch media, Musampa has faced tax issues for years, and recently a property of his in Amsterdam was repossessed.
