[Saba Sports News] Star Pakistani seamer Naseem Shah is out of the Asia Cup 2023, with Zaman Khan replacing him. Naseem suffered a right shoulder injury during the Super 4 match against India, where he didn’t complete his overs, ending with figures of 0/53 in 9.2 overs.
Zaman Khan will take his place in Pakistan‘s upcoming Super 4 game against Sri Lanka on September 14 in Colombo. Naseem has taken seven wickets in the tournament at an average of 20 and an economy of 4.85.
The ICC reported that Naseem is under the care of the Pakistan medical panel, with an eye on the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Zaman Khan, a right-arm pacer with four wickets in six T20Is for Pakistan, will step in.
Pakistan also has concerns about speedster Haris Rauf, who didn’t bowl on the reserve day of the Pakistan vs. India Super 4 match due to discomfort in his right flank. The Pakistan medical team is closely monitoring Rauf’s recovery.
Team doctor Sohail Saleem stated, “These two fast bowlers are our assets, and the team’s medical panel will provide them the best possible care ahead of the all-important World Cup.”
Pakistan’s upcoming match against Sri Lanka is vital as they must win to reach the final and seek redemption against India.
India has already secured a spot in the final with consecutive wins over Pakistan and Sri Lanka. A washout would eliminate Pakistan from the tournament.
