The American sprinting star attended the U.S. Open in Queens, N.Y., on Saturday, where he posed for a photo with Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively. Olympic champion sprinters Gabby Thomas and Rai Benjamin, along with NWSL soccer player Midge Purce, were also in the picture.
In the photo, Lively, at 7-foot-1, towered over everyone, including the 5-foot-11 Lyles and Thomas, 6-foot-3 Benjamin, and 5-foot-5 Purce. The image, shared by Thomas on Instagram, highlighted the dramatic height difference.
Lyles, a six-time world champion, has previously made headlines for his jabs at NBA players, but this photo with Lively seemed to signal a lighthearted moment between the two at the U.S. Open.
