[Saba Sports News] One current NBA head coach predicts a surprising draft day outcome for Bronny James.
Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle appeared on “The Green Light with Chris Long” and was asked by co-host Macon Gunter if the Pacers, holding the No. 36, No. 49, and No. 50 picks, would draft Bronny. While Carlisle didn’t reveal their plans, he made a noteworthy prediction about Bronny’s draft position.
“I’m gonna go out on a limb and predict that he goes quite a bit higher than that,” Carlisle said, per ClutchPoints. “I’m not going to say who [will take Bronny], I don’t want to get in trouble. I’ve been fined enough this year during the playoffs.”
Bronny, the 19-year-old son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, is considered a project prospect who isn’t quite ready for the NBA. However, due to his father’s influence, he is attracting interest as a potential second-round pick. Some even expect the Lakers to select him at No. 55 overall.
Carlisle’s suggestion that Bronny might be off the board by the time the Pacers pick in the second round implies he could even be in the conversation for a first-round selection. Though Carlisle didn’t name specific teams, it’s clear there are at least two non-Lakers teams seriously interested in Bronny.
