[Saba Sports News] NBA players have made a surprising choice when asked who they consider the league’s most overrated player.
According to sources annual anonymous player survey released Tuesday, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton received the most votes for the title.
Out of 90 players surveyed, 14.4% named Haliburton—enough to top the list.
Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert followed with 10% of the vote, while Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young, a previous “winner” of the category, came in third at 8.9%.
Haliburton’s selection is unexpected, given his public reputation. The 25-year-old is a two-time All-Star who’s posted double-double averages in two separate seasons. He led the Pacers to a 50-32 record this year while averaging 18.6 points and 9.2 assists as their clear-cut leader.
Still, Haliburton has drawn criticism. Some former players have taken issue with his on-court trash talk, and he’s developed a notable rivalry with at least one team. His limited role on Team USA at the 2024 Summer Olympics may have also affected how he’s viewed by peers.
That said, Haliburton has never seemed fazed by outside criticism—and likely won’t be bothered by this label either.
