In the opening Test of the series, India is playing
South Africa at the Supersport Park in Centurion. Based on the way things are
going thus far, the visitors may be bowling as early as Day 2. With KL Rahul at
the centre, India will resume their innings on 208/8 if there is no more rain.
However, they will almost certainly be bowled out today, giving their bowlers a
chance to repeat what the Proteas accomplished on Tuesday.
The attention will undoubtedly be drawn to Prasidh
Krishna, who is playing his first Test match, but once again, Jasprit Bumrah
and his methods will take centre stage. BOOM is playing for India for the first
time since the 2023 World Cup final, and everyone is looking forward to seeing
him bowl at his best, including South Africa’s best player Makhaya Ntini.
Bumrah is so excited that he actually believes India would not be the same
force in world cricket without him.
“Look where Bumrah releases the ball. He releases the
ball from the top of his head. So, he gets the angle to bring the ball back in.
He can get deliveries to straighten after pitching,” Ntini told PTI.
“I don’t know if he has powerful wrists and action is
always the same, that’s how beautiful it is. His yorkers, he doesn’t miss any,
those are the things everyone gets to enjoy. India isn’t the team without
Bumrah.”
