[Saba Sports News] In a recent segment on the ‘Podcast P’ show, Clippers star Paul George shared his mindset for this year’s free agency. George emphasized that he’s not seeking an easy path to a championship but rather a place where he can thrive and play the game the right way.
“I want to contribute to winning basketball, but at this point, it’s not even about chasing a championship. It’s playing the right style of basketball that I’m after.”
George, 34, will become an unrestricted free agent this summer after five seasons with the Clippers. Alongside Kawhi Leonard, he helped transform the Clippers into a respected franchise. Despite attempts to negotiate a new contract, the two sides remain at an impasse, allowing George to sign with any team starting July 1st.
Having played for the Pacers, Thunder, and Clippers, George has been part of winning teams but has yet to capture a championship. The 6’8″ swingman prefers finding the right team fit over the easiest path to a title. He wants to play in a way that empowers his teammates, rather than simply chasing a ring.
As the summer’s top free agent, Paul George’s decision will be closely watched and could significantly impact the NBA playoff picture.
