[Saba Sports News] Josh Giddey, the Oklahoma City Thunder guard, has been cleared of any criminal charges related to his alleged relationship with a minor. Newport Beach, California police informed TMZ Sports on Wednesday that their investigation, initiated in November, found no evidence against Giddey and is now officially closed.
The allegations against 21-year-old Giddey emerged online about two months ago. However, the investigation faced hurdles as the alleged minor victim and her family did not cooperate, potentially impacting the lack of evidence to support charges.
Despite the controversy, Giddey has continued to play for the Thunder without missing a game, although he has faced boos from opposing fans on the road. He maintains averages of 11.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, contributing to OKC’s 27-13 record, ranking second in the West.
While a criminal case is off the table, Giddey might still face a civil suit, as the alleged minor and her family have recently engaged a prominent lawyer. Nonetheless, avoiding criminal charges is significant for both Giddey and the Thunder.
