[Saba Sports News] The Indian women’s cricket team consolidated their position in the one-off Testagainst Australia, extending their lead to 157 runs by the end of Day 2 on Friday, December 22. Finishing the day at 376/7, the team’s performance was highlighted by Deepti Sharma (70* off 147) and Pooja Vastrakar (33* off 115) at the crease. However, fans at the Wankhede Stadium faced discomfort due to substandard seating, with a viral video showcasing the unclean conditions.
Free entry was provided by the Maharashtra Cricket Association, but the stadium’s upkeep left fans dissatisfied. The day began with India at 98/1, with Smriti Mandhana (43*) and Sneh Rana (4*) batting. They added 50 runs before Rana fell to Ashleigh Gardner. Mandhana was unfortunately run out after scoring 74.
Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues propelled the innings with a 113-run partnership, with Ghosh hitting a 52. The team lost quick wickets, including Rodrigues (73 off 121), leaving the score at 274/7. Sharma and Vastrakar then formed a solid 102-run partnership, setting the stage for Day 3, where they aim to further pressure Australia.
