[Saba Sports News] Porto recently announced that the club has been banned from participating in European competition for one year and fined €1.5 million for breaching the Financial Fair Play regulations. The ban will be effective between 2025 and 2028. UEFA’s Financial Control Committee confirmed the sanctions in a recent statement. Porto Football Club will face a fine of €1.5 million and a one-year ban from European competition during the 2025/26, 2026/27, and 2027/28 seasons. The FC Porto Board of Directors clarified that the penalties resulted from the full responsibility of former board members and their sporting company, who demonstrated careless and ineffective management, leading to violations of the UEFA Financial Fair Play rules. These violations primarily involved irregularities in employee payments, tax and social security agencies, and other financial controls within the club. The board intends to investigate the reasons behind the club’s sanctions and determine the responsibility of those involved in repeated violations and the concealment of facts.
