[Saba Sports News] According to British media, Premier League fans complained that a new feature used by Sky Sports during the Newcastle vs Liverpool match caused motion sickness. The thrilling 3–2 victory for the Reds left viewers on edge, with 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha scoring the last-minute winner. Sky Sports also introduced a new feature–the referee camera. When Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch scored from long range, the bodycam worn by referee Simon Hooper captured the perfect angle. Sky Sports broadcast this referee-angle goal footage, but some fans were not pleased. Many viewers reported experiencing motion sickness while watching the goal from the referee’s perspective. One fan said, “This new referee camera they keep switching to is making me nauseous. I’m getting motion sickness.” Another added, “The referee camera is absolutely sickening. The person who proposed adding motion sickness to football should be jailed.” A third viewer wrote, “That referee camera – are they trying to make viewers vomit?” Someone else commented, “The referee camera is giving the whole nation motion sickness.” After a trial during the Club World Cup this summer, the Premier League decided to introduce referee cameras this season. The International Football Association Board was originally waiting for feedback from FIFA to evaluate whether to approve broader use of the equipment.
