[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, the Premier League has no plans in the near future to hold overseas matches like La Liga and Serie A. Recently, the Spanish Football Federation approved a match between Villarreal and Barcelona to be held in the United States, which could be the first European league game played abroad. The Spanish FA plans to host the match on December 20 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, and it is seeking approval from FIFA and UEFA. At the same time, AC Milan is pushing to host a Serie A match against Como in Perth, Australia, but the plan requires approvals from FIFA, UEFA, the Australian FA, and the Asian FA. In recent years, the Supercoppa Italiana and the Copa del Rey have been held abroad to attract a wider audience. In 2008, the Premier League had proposed adding a 39th round of matches to be held overseas, but the plan was strongly opposed by fans and eventually failed. With La Liga and Serie A moving matches overseas, there is curiosity about whether the Premier League will follow suit. However, sources say that the Premier League has no immediate plans to hold matches overseas. It is said that the Premier League already has sufficient global attention, and at this stage, holding matches overseas would not bring significant economic benefits.
