[Saba Sports News] Last Friday, Red Bull Racing CEO Christian Horner was seen visiting Williams Racing’s facilities during the F1 Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Fans speculated that Horner was discussing a deal for young driver Franco Colapinto with Williams CEO James Vowles. With Sergio Perez’s poor performance, it seems increasingly likely that he will lose his seat at Red Bull by the end of this season. Colapinto is one of the brightest stars for 2024; despite joining the competition only at the end of August, he has scored points in all five races he participated in and has not ranked lower than 12th place. However, as it stands now, Williams cannot offer Colapinto a driver seat for 2025 as they have already signed Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon. Last week, several media outlets reported that Red Bull made a £15 million offer to Williams for Colapinto. However, Argentine journalist Jorge Legnani from Campeones stated that his colleague Orlando Rios heard a completely different story about Horner’s meeting with Vowles. The insider claimed that Horner was actually negotiating for Sainz despite him already having signed with Williams. It turns out that in an interview in July, Vowles was asked about Sainz’s contract situation: whether he could break his contract if Red Bull or Mercedes showed interest in signing him. Vowles neither confirmed nor denied this statement. If such a clause exists, Horner signing Sainz could become possible.
