[Saba Sports News] As the Charlotte Hornets struggle with an 8-28 record, they are reportedly considering trading former All-Star Gordon Hayward. Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, in a recent podcast, mentioned that Hayward is actively being offered in trade discussions. He is seen as readily available and is also being eyed as a potential buyout candidate by some teams.
With the trade deadline approaching and Hayward nearing 34, his time with the Hornets, spanning four seasons, seems to be coming to an end. He’s in the last year of his contract, worth $31.5 million, marking him as a significant expiring contract.
Despite his injury-riddled history and current calf issue sidelining him since late December, Hayward’s stats this season remain solid, averaging 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. Previously drawing interest from a major contender, teams now might consider acquiring him through a buyout, avoiding the need to trade assets.
