[Saba Sports News] Since Joel Embiid’s absence due to a knee injury, the Philadelphia 76ers have faced challenges in maintaining a winning streak, but the situation looks to be improving soon. Reports indicate Embiid is on the brink of returning from a left knee injury, with expectations of him playing this week. S
Shams Charania of The Athletic noted that the current MVP has participated in 5-on-5 scrimmages lately and might make his comeback in Tuesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Embiid has been sidelined since January 30 after sustaining a meniscus injury in his left knee and undergoing surgery, with initial hopes of his return by late March.
During Embiid’s absence, the 76ers have recorded an 11-18 win-loss ratio. As of Monday, they stood 8th in the Eastern Conference with a 40-35 record. To avoid the play-in tournament starting April 16, they must improve to at least the 6th place in the remaining seven games of the season.
Before his injury, Embiid was delivering a season worthy of MVP consideration, averaging a career-best 35.3 points per game. About a month ago, Embiid expressed his desire to return to the court before the playoffs, a goal he is nearing.
