[Saba Sports News] It’s been over five years since Michael Beasley last played in the NBA, and Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul recently offered a clear explanation.
Appearing on the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, Paul said Beasley is one of the most talented players ever, but emphasized that talent alone isn’t enough—professionalism and valuing structure are crucial.
Paul explained, “Today, high-level character and talent are key. When the talent fades, professionalism keeps you afloat.” He suggested that Beasley’s lack of professionalism and off-court issues impacted his career as his talent waned.
Beasley last played in the NBA during the 2018-19 season with the Lakers. Although he was signed by the Brooklyn Nets in 2020, his contract was voided after testing positive for COVID-19. Despite a brief Summer League stint with the Trail Blazers in 2021, no teams have shown significant interest since.
