[Saba Sports News] According to an official announcement from Roma, the club has terminated its cooperation with consultant Claudio Ranieri. Italian media reports that Roma dismissed Ranieri unilaterally without any severance pay, while the coach is demanding full outstanding wages for the remainder of his contract. Ranieri recently clarified the truth behind his departure, stating his exit was not a mutual agreement but a unilateral decision by the club. After bringing the former manager into the club’s management structure, the Friedkin family has now delivered a final verdict. It is a pure management dismissal, identical to sacking a head coach — an extremely rare occurrence in football. Ranieri took over Roma as caretaker manager in November 2024. He guided the team to a fifth-place finish last season, missing out on Champions League qualification by just one point, before stepping back into a consultancy role for the current campaign.
The editor believes that in short, Roma and Ranieri have not reached any settlement agreement regarding his departure. Ranieri is demanding full payment of all remuneration he is entitled to, as his contract was originally set to run until June 30, 2027, before being unilaterally terminated by the club.
