[Saba Sports News] Russell Westbrook, currently with the Los Angeles Clippers, might wish to leave behind the “Westbrick” moniker, yet his recent performance did little to help his case.
During the Clippers’ narrow 102-100 victory against the Denver Nuggets, Westbrook was responsible for a remarkably off-target shot, which could rank as one of his most notable misfires. Late in the first quarter, he attempted a jump shot in the lane but ended up sending the ball sailing over the backboard entirely.
The shot appeared to be an ambitious attempt to utilize the backboard at a high angle, though it’s hard to justify such a miss if that wasn’t the intent. Westbrook’s shooting history is dotted with significant misses, contributing to the unflattering “Westbrick” nickname that he notably dislikes.
This season, Westbrook has shown improvement, shooting 45.2% from the field, which surpasses his career average of 43.8%. However, with his playing time reduced to a career-low of 22.4 minutes per game, every shot counts even more. The miss in question is exactly the kind that makes fans apprehensive whenever he decides to shoot, especially with the playoffs approaching.
