[Saba Sports News] In April this year, the F1 Chinese Grand Prix returned to Shanghai, receiving high praise from motorsport fans worldwide. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Shanghai International Circuit’s operation. After 20 years of use, the asphalt surface of the track has experienced varying degrees of aging and damage and requires renovation and upgrading. Currently, the new track surface has been completed, and final touches such as drainage bolt reinforcement and line painting are underway within the circuit. It is expected that starting from mid-October, the track will welcome domestic and international racing events with fully upgraded performance. Reportedly, this renovation has significant considerations. Compared to 20 years ago, current construction techniques and equipment have greatly improved. For instance, this renovation utilizes 3D digital technology to create a combination repair plan featuring digitally controlled 3D milling machines, high-precision leveling system pavers, and intelligent digital rollers, making construction more efficient and precise. As a venue for F1 events, track requirements are far higher than those for highways; it must be smooth enough for high speeds while also having a rough texture for grip and able to withstand high temperatures. After extensive renovations, it is believed that Shanghai International Circuit will provide drivers with a smooth racing experience.
