[Saba Sports News] As 2023 draws to a close, people are taking time to reflect on their past year, and this includes many in the cricket world. Indian cricket star Shubman Gill, who had an exceptional year, scoring centuries in all three formats, shared his reflections and a list of goals he had set for himself. His ambitious objectives included being India’s top century scorer and winning the Orange Cap. Impressively, he achieved most of these goals, except for clinching the World Cup.
Gill took to social media to share his thoughts and goals with his followers. He expressed that although the year didn’t end exactly as planned, he was proud of how close he came to achieving his targets and looked forward to the challenges and opportunities of 2024, hoping to get even closer to his goals.

He captioned the post, “Exactly a year ago, I put it out into the universe. With 2023 coming to an end, the year has been full of experiences, some great fun and other great learnings. The end of the year didn’t go as planned, but I can proudly say we came ever so close to our goals, giving everything we had. The coming year brings its own challenges and opportunities. Hopefully, we’ll get closer to our goals in 2024. I hope all of you find love, joy, and strength in everything you do ❤️”
Starting the year with a bang, Gill scored a double hundred in an ODI in January, becoming only the eighth male player to do so. He also set the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in T20Is. His performance in the IPL was equally impressive, earning him the Orange Cap as the highest run scorer of the season with 890 runs, including three hundreds and four fifties.
Gill also ended the year as the top run-scorer in ODIs, amassing 1584 runs. Overall, he was the leading run-scorer in all formats, with a total of 2154 runs, including seven hundreds and ten fifties. His achievements reflect a year of hard work, dedication, and remarkable skill, making him a standout player in the cricketing world.
