[Saba Sports News] In the just-concluded Asian Team Championships, the South Korean women’s team, led by an outstanding performance from An Se Young, claimed the Asian Team Championships title for the first time. With their points and championship title, they have also secured the top seed for the 2026 Uber Cup – a historic first for South Korea. In fact, the South Korean women’s current success would not be possible without An Se Young’s dominant displays. As the world’s top-ranked player, she has barely dropped a single set throughout the competitions. Whether at the Asian Team Championships or in previous events, she reliably secures crucial points for her team, making her truly the backbone of the squad. Besides An Se Young, South Korea boasts balanced overall strength with no obvious weaknesses. This allowed them to comfortably win the Asian Team Championships and subsequently claim the top Uber Cup seed.
In my view, the Uber Cup is a team event with many variables; any unexpected result can shape the final outcome. China and Japan remain highly competitive, so if South Korea wants to lift the trophy, they must continue to give their all and not take anything for granted. All in all, the South Korean women’s team earning the top seed is a reward for their ability and hard work – and it has made the upcoming Uber Cup even more exciting.
