[Saba Sports News] According to French media reports, Strasbourg midfielder Valentín Barco is dissatisfied with the club for not informing him of the relevant rules in advance after receiving a yellow card that led to a suspension. In the Ligue 1 match on January 18, Strasbourg won 2-1 against Metz. Valentín Barco received a yellow card in the 25th minute for expressing his dissatisfaction with the referee’s decision. The French Football Federation’s disciplinary committee announced that “Valentín Barco’s suspended one-match ban condition has been triggered, resulting in a one-match suspension effective from January 27.” This means Valentín Barco will miss Strasbourg’s next Ligue 1 match against Paris Saint-Germain.
The situation stems from an incident on November 22 of last year when Valentín Barco was sent off with a red card in the 77th minute of a Ligue 1 match. After the match, he received a one-match suspension, with an additional match suspended. According to Ligue 1 rules, if Barco received a yellow card in the following ten Ligue 1 matches after that red card, another match suspension would be enforced. His yellow card in the game against Metz triggered this enforcement. However, the Strasbourg club did not inform Valentín Barco of this rule, leading to his discontent as he protested a decision and received a needless yellow card that resulted in his suspension.
