[Saba Sports News] The Phoenix Suns are experiencing a challenging season, leading to growing frustrations within the team. Following their 120-105 loss to the Sacramento Kings, which marked their eighth defeat in 11 games and brought their season record to an even 14-14, veteran guard Eric Gordon expressed his dissatisfaction with his current offensive role. This was particularly evident in the game against the Kings, where Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkic were absent.
Speaking to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, Gordon remarked, “Early on in the season, it was better. And lately, there just hasn’t been an emphasis [to get me more looks]. So, it’s definitely different. Lately I haven’t been getting hardly any touches really.” He also mentioned his intention to discuss with coach Frank Vogel about being more involved in the game plan.
Gordon’s frustration might seem surprising on a team that boasts stars like Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. However, in the absence of Beal and Nurkic, Gordon’s limited involvement — taking only two shots in 24 minutes during the Kings game — is noteworthy, especially considering he averages 13.2 points per game this season. His expectation to contribute more, especially amid the team’s injury issues, seems justified.
The Suns, who had high expectations with their trio of Durant, Booker, and Beal, have faced setbacks, including Beal’s limited play due to injuries. The team has struggled to find a consistent winning formula, even with Durant and Booker in the lineup.
