[Saba Sports News] The All England Open Badminton Championships, which began in 1899, is the oldest and most prestigious badminton event in the world. The 2026 All England Open Badminton Championships will take place from March 3 to 8 in Birmingham. Given the poor performance of the Indonesian badminton team in the 2025 season, they have decided to fly to the UK more than a week in advance to prepare for this year’s tournament.
According to the plan, the Indonesian badminton team will conduct acclimatization training in Milton Keynes from February 26 to 28, located about 120 kilometers south of Birmingham. On March 1, the team will arrive in Birmingham to give the athletes enough time to adapt to the competition venue. In last year’s All England Open Badminton Championships, Indonesia’s “one ace” Jonatan Christie, the defending champion in men’s singles, was eliminated in the second round, marking a major upset. Among all Indonesian players, the best performance came from the men’s doubles pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, who advanced to the semifinals but lost to the eventual champions Kim Wonho and Seo Seung Jae, finishing in third place.
The editor believes that flying to the UK early to acclimatize to the time difference is a very wise strategy that can effectively reduce the impact of jet lag, allowing players to enter competitive form more quickly. Clearly, the Indonesian team has already gained an advantage from the start.
