[Saba Sports News] Former Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem offered high praise for Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James, comparing him to NBA star Jrue Holiday. While Bronny faced criticism from Kwame Brown recently, Haslem’s comparison is a refreshing endorsement for the former USC player. On “The OGs Show,” Haslem highlighted Bronny’s maturity and ability to tune out distractions.
“He’s done a great job of quieting the noise and focusing on what he can control,” Haslem said. “He talks about being a Jrue Holiday type of guy who can come in and make an impact like that.”
Although Bronny’s shooting and scoring in the NBA Summer League didn’t meet some expectations, he’s just 19 and still developing. Despite suffering a cardiac arrest before his freshman season at USC, Bronny played in 25 games, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 0.8 steals in 19.3 minutes.
Now with the Lakers and playing alongside his father, LeBron James, Bronny has the potential to make an impact, though not at the same immediate level as his father. Standing at 6’2″ and 210 pounds, Bronny’s athleticism and strength give him an edge over smaller guards, though he’s not yet ready for a starting role.
Like Jrue Holiday, who hit his stride in his fourth NBA season, Bronny may need time to develop. Holiday’s selfless, team-oriented style made him invaluable, and if the Lakers are patient, Bronny could similarly evolve into a key contributor in the future.
