[Saba Sports News] On March 26, 2024, Dehradun: The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) is gearing up for an enhanced second edition of the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) scheduled for June 2024. Promising a grand spectacle, this year’s UPL will commence with a dazzling opening ceremony featuring Bollywood stars and popular singers.
In a bid to ensure a top-notch experience, the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand has collaborated with Sspark Company, renowned for organizing major cricket leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and T10. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked between CAU and Sspark Company for the second edition of the Uttarakhand Premier League, marking a transition to a franchise-based model akin to the IPL.
Scheduled for the first week of June, the UPL will feature a blend of local cricketers from Uttarakhand and players from other states. Teams will compete for the coveted trophy, offering spectators electrifying matches and fostering budding talents to elevate the standard of cricket within the state.
Mr. Mahim Verma, Secretary of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand, expressed enthusiasm for the league’s potential impact, highlighting it as a platform for young talents to shine and propel Uttarakhand into a cricketing hub.
Similarly, Mr. Rajeev Khanna, Director of Sspark Managing Services, emphasized UPL’s significance beyond cricket, spotlighting Uttarakhand’s athletic prowess and aiming to engage fans like never before through the tournament.
