[Saba Sports News] Dutch driver Max Verstappen has been a source of controversy since entering F1. In the recently concluded 2024 season, he became a public enemy for UK motor sport media. After the summer break, Verstappen was embroiled in a championship battle with British driver Lando Norris, with the most intense clash occurring at the F1 Mexican Grand Prix. Verstappen was penalized with a 10-second time penalty for twice impeding Norris. After the race, he faced fierce criticism from the British media, with some journalists even calling for his suspension. Verstappen retaliated swiftly, achieving an incredible victory in the Brazilian Grand Prix following the Mexican race, despite heavy rain in Sao Paulo. Afterward, some British journalists skipped the press conference, providing Verstappen with an opportunity to mock them. Although he didn’t name names, it was clear he was referring to Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft. Feeling compelled to respond, Croft stated that it was merely a press conference for print media and that he never attends post-race conferences, regardless of who wins. He also noted that he did not feel offended but suggested that Verstappen should reflect on his behavior, as he has consistently generated controversy while perceiving himself as the victim.
