[Saba Sports News] Previously, Max Verstappen secured a second-place finish at Zandvoort. Although Red Bull took some positives from the event, Verstappen made it clear during Thursday’s media activities at the Italian Grand Prix that the team still has much work to do if they want to contend for the championship again. When asked about Red Bull’s performance expectations at Monza, Verstappen responded: “Good question. I don’t know myself. It was great to be on the podium at Zandvoort. But we have to be realistic. I don’t think our race pace was particularly outstanding, so we still have some issues to better understand, like why the race didn’t go as planned. But this is a completely different track, with low downforce and entirely different corners. I think we’ll find out tomorrow in practice. Hopefully, we can start from a good position and go from there.” Additionally, the Dutch GP showcased another example of Red Bull making significant improvements between race weekends – over the past two seasons, the RB21 and its predecessor have been challenging to set up. After Friday practice, Verstappen had said it would be “difficult to make it into the top five,” but he ultimately qualified just behind the McLaren drivers and climbed to second place in the Grand Prix.
