[Saba Sports News] The Red Bull team is going through a turbulent period, with rumors suggesting that Dutch driver Max Verstappen will collaborate with the Mercedes F1 team. Mercedes team CEO Toto Wolff has repeatedly shown goodwill towards Verstappen in public. After another disappointing race for Red Bull in Azerbaijan, multiple media outlets reported that Verstappen’s father, Jos Verstappen, has reached a “verbal agreement” for a transfer to Mercedes. Regardless of Verstappen’s current contract with Red Bull, he is set to move to the Mercedes F1 team starting in 2026. Verstappen was supposed to stay with Red Bull until 2028, but certain clauses in his contract allow him to initiate transfer negotiations under specific conditions before 2026. The future of Red Bull remains uncertain; last week, they lost to McLaren in the team standings. Additionally, Verstappen has not won a race since the Spanish Grand Prix and is beginning to worry about his driver championship title. Due to poor car performance, Verstappen has started to feel disappointed with Red Bull.
