[Saba Sports News] According to British media, Aston Villa is seeking to sell naming rights for its stadium to increase revenue, though balancing emotions and business remains a challenge. Many European football clubs have generated significant income by selling stadium naming rights, such as Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, and Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou. In early 2024, Aston Villa worked on this matter but failed to find a suitable partner. Stadium naming rights would bring the greatest commercial impact, far exceeding the additional revenue from ticket price increases. A similar example is Everton, whose new stadium is named after the Liverpool-based law firm Hill Dickinson, which is reportedly “one of the largest stadium naming deals in Europe,” potentially worth up to £10 million per year. Villa Park has been the home ground of the club since 1897, originally called Aston Lower Grounds, but fans began calling it “Villa Park” in the early 20th century. The stadium belongs to its supporters. In the late Victorian era, Villa was one of the most successful teams in England, and had a home ground that matched their status.
