[Saba Sports News] The 2024 Paris Paralympics will commence this Friday. In the badminton competition, there is a star player, Wojtek Czyz from New Zealand. According to The Sun, Czyz is 44 years old, born in Germany, and has participated in two previous Paralympic Games. This time, he is representing New Zealand in badminton. In his youth, Czyz was a football player and played for the German club Fortuna Koln. During a match, he had a severe collision with the opposing goalkeeper, resulting in multiple fractures in his leg, which ultimately required amputation. After the amputation, Czyz did not give up on sports; instead, he began his illustrious athletics career, winning gold medals in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and long jump at the 2004 Athens Paralympics and the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, as well as multiple world championships, making him a star athlete. After more than a decade in athletics, Czyz retired in 2013 and started traveling the world. Eventually, he settled in New Zealand, where he built a family with his wife and now runs a honey farm. Remarkably, three years ago, Czyz began to engage in para-badminton and firmly believed he could achieve success in this field. Through relentless effort, he earned qualification to compete in badminton at the Paris Paralympics.
