[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United defender Leny Yoro was fined and given a six-month driving ban by the court for speeding in a residential area with a speed limit of about 48 km/h. It was reported that last August, Yoro drove a Porsche worth £170,000 through a school zone in the Manchester suburb at a speed of around 116 km/h, nearly 2.5 times the legal limit. In the Clerk of the Court’s proceedings, Yoro admitted to speeding. His lawyer conveyed the player’s apology, arguing that the speeding occurred because he was eager to take a friend to the train station, and the road conditions at the time were relatively open. Although Yoro did not trigger the penalty points accumulation clause, the judge still ruled to cancel his driving licence due to the serious speeding offense. In addition to the six-month driving ban, Yoro was also required to pay fines and court costs totaling more than £1,000.
The editor believes that speeding endangers the safety of the driver and others. As a key member of Manchester United’s defense this season, having appeared for the team in 23 matches, this off-field legal dispute will undoubtedly cast a negative light on his professional image.
