Sports News] This weekend in the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich will face
Heidenheim in an away match. It is worth noting that Heidenheim has maintained
the same coach for an impressive sixteen and a half years. In February of this
year, Bayern Munich announced that their current coach, Thomas Tuchel, would be
leaving the club this summer, and they immediately began the search for a new
head coach. On Saturday afternoon, they will come up against Heidenheim, a team
that has not changed its coach since September 17, 2007. Frank Schmidt, who is
50 years old, has been with the team for the entirety of this period. During
the same time frame, Bayern Munich has gone through a total of 12 coaches,
including one who has held the position three times. Schmidt signed a contract
with Heidenheim in 2007, which is set to last until 2027. Under his guidance,
the team has achieved remarkable success, rising from the fifth tier to the
Bundesliga. Heidenheim has played 615 games under Schmidt’s leadership, and
they currently hold the 11th position in the Bundesliga standings. Schmidt has
become the longest-serving coach at a single club in German professional
football.
