[Saba Sports News] One Sacramento Kings player will miss the remainder of the current season, delaying his participation in future games.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Friday that Kings guard Kevin Huerter will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He is expected to fully recover in time for the start of the 2024-25 season.
Huerter, a former first-round pick, played a significant role in Sacramento’s success last season with his exceptional spot-up shooting and scoring prowess. However, he has struggled this season, averaging 10.2 points per game—his lowest since his rookie year—with shooting splits of 44/36/77. It’s possible that his shoulder injury, which sidelined him since March 20, has significantly impacted his performance.
In Huerter’s absence, the Kings, currently eighth in the Western Conference with a 42-30 record, have inserted defensive-minded rookie Keon Ellis into the starting lineup. Despite this setback, they still boast significant talent with Sixth Man of the Year frontrunner Malik Monk and former lottery pick Davion Mitchell coming off the bench.
Nevertheless, losing Huerter for the remainder of the season is a significant blow for a Sacramento team that has faced its share of challenges this year.
