Sports News] According to reports from Italian media, Napoli President Aurelio
De Laurentiis has attributed responsibility for the alleged financial fraud in
the Victor Osimhen transfer case to the club’s former sporting director,
Cristiano Giuntoli, who is currently with Juventus. In the summer of 2020,
Napoli spent 75 million euros to acquire Osimhen from Lille. However, the
transfer has come under scrutiny for suspected financial irregularities,
leading to investigations involving Napoli and De Laurentiis. On Wednesday, De
Laurentiis traveled to Rome to meet with the prosecutor overseeing the case.
Italian media sources indicate that De Laurentiis informed the prosecutor that
it was Giuntoli who oversaw the negotiations and the entire transfer of
Osimhen. As the chairman of Napoli, it is surprising that De Laurentiis claims
to have been unaware of the details. This move appears to be an attempt to
shift blame and find a scapegoat. It remains to be seen how fans will react to
this development.
