[Saba Sports News] Afghanistan’s cricketer Noor Ali Zadran has decided to hang up his boots from international cricket, officially announcing his retirement on Thursday, March 7. His cricketing tenure, which lasted more than ten years, saw him participate in 2 Tests, 51 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 23 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
His last appearance representing Afghanistan was in a solitary Test match against Ireland. Over his career in limited-overs cricket, he amassed 1216 runs in ODIs, maintaining an average of 24.81, and tallied 597 runs in T20Is at an average of 27.13.
Noor Ali made a memorable debut in April 2009 during Afghanistan’s first-ever ODI, playing against Scotland, where he quickly made an impact with a swift 45 runs off 28 balls, contributing to Afghanistan’s win. He made his T20I debut not long after, showcasing his adaptable skills in the format.
One of the standout moments in his career includes scoring a fifty against India in the 2010 T20 World Cup. A notable comeback in 2023 led to his selection for the T20Is at the Asian Games, where he delivered significant performances that propelled Afghanistan to the finals against India, marking a fitting culmination to his international cricket saga.
