This heartwarming moment provided a sense of relief for fans, especially after MI’s defeat in their opening match of IPL 2024 against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, March 24.
In a video shared by MI on the micro-blogging platform ‘X,’ Rohit Sharma was seen joyfully spraying water with a hose on his teammates, infusing laughter and happiness into the atmosphere. Notably, he didn’t spare even the team’s social media admin, who was recording the celebration, adding a humorous touch to the occasion.
“Happy Holi, everyone! Brb, admin needs to get the phone repaired,” the franchise humorously captioned the post.
MI commenced their IPL 2024 campaign against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, suffering a six-run defeat, extending their streak of opening match losses to 12 consecutive seasons. Despite restricting GT to 168 runs with impressive bowling performances from Jasprit Bumrah (3/14) and Gerald Coetzee (2/27), MI struggled in their chase, managing only 162 runs.
Their next encounter will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on Wednesday, March 27. Additionally, MI’s first home game of the season is scheduled for April 1 against Rajasthan Royals, providing an opportunity for redemption after their initial setback.
