Sports News] A few days ago, the German Football Professional League announced
on its official website that it has suspended its foreign investment projects.
The decision was made unanimously by the league’s presidium during a special
meeting held in Frankfurt. The German Football Professional League had proposed
a foreign investment plan aimed at raising 1 billion euros by selling a certain
portion of media rights over several years. However, after Blackstone withdrew,
only CVC remained as a potential investor. This proposal has faced significant
opposition from German fans since its inception. During the meeting, a vote was
held, and despite the unanimous decision against proceeding with the marketing
partnership, it was revealed that Martin Kinder voted in favor of it, going
against the club’s consensus. In recent Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches,
fans have expressed their discontent through various protest actions such as
throwing tennis balls and other objects onto the field, displaying banners, and
setting off fireworks. These incidents have led to game interruptions and
extended stoppage time on multiple occasions. Earlier this week, over a dozen
clubs from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 requested a re-vote in response to
the suspension of the foreign investment projects.
