[Saba Sports News] Charles Barkley, renowned as one of the greatest basketball players of his era, has also become an incredibly entertaining television figure, especially post-NBA. His captivating storytelling about his NBA days is well-known, but Barkley’s ability to engage audiences on even the most ordinary topics was recently on display during his discussion about dating apps on ‘The Steam Room’ with Ernie Johnson.
Barkley humorously tackled the issue of misleading profiles on dating apps, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in profile pictures. He argued that people should not use outdated images where they looked more attractive in the past, insisting that profile photos should be recent, within a three-month period, to reflect one’s current appearance accurately.
“None of these people look like they’re supposed to look. You can’t show a picture of when you were hot in high school or college. The picture has to be within a three-month window. Don’t put a picture where you used to be hot and aren’t anymore.” Getting to know someone isn’t easy and it comes with conversation. However, getting people to find you interesting enough to speak with you is another challenge of it’s own. Barkley feels the same way, warning people from putting generic or boring hobbies and activities on their bio. “Stop putting boring stuff on there like, ‘I like movies.’ ‘I like to shop.’ Come up with something more exciting.”
He also shared his views on making profiles interesting, criticizing the use of generic and dull descriptions in bios. Barkley encouraged users to be more creative than just stating typical interests like movies or shopping.
“Nobody saw a hot chick and say, ‘Hey, what about the dog?’ Nobody ever said, ‘Look at that ugly girl with that cute dog in the picture. Let me click [on] her [profile].’”
Barkley’s ability to dive into various non-basketball topics with his unique perspective and comedic flair highlights his versatility as a broadcaster. While his basketball opinions may sometimes be controversial, Barkley consistently captures the audience’s attention with his distinctive style and entertaining commentary.
