[Saba Sports News] January 17 Jennings Scores Century, Lions Lead in Ahmedabad
England Lions had a strong start in their unofficial Test series against India A, scoring 382/3 on the first day in Ahmedabad.
Keaton Jennings was the highlight, scoring an impressive 154 from 188 balls, marking his 27th first-class century. Josh Bohannon remained not out on 93, while Alex Lees contributed a valuable 73. Dan Mousley was also unbeaten on 35 at stumps.
The Indian bowling lineup struggled, with only three maiden overs bowled in total. Spinner Manav Suthar took all three wickets for India A, while seamer Vidwath Kaverappa kept a tight economy. Navdeep Saini and Tushar Deshpande were less effective, each conceding over five runs per over.
England Lions maintained an aggressive batting rate of 4.65 runs per over, in line with coach Brendon McCullum’s approach. A significant 157-run partnership between Jennings and Lees put the Indian bowlers under pressure. Jennings then partnered with captain Bohannon to add another 128 runs.
Brief Scores: England Lions 382/3 (Jennings 154, Bohannon 94*; Suthar 3-85) vs India A
