[Saba Sports News] This week, former Boston Celtics champion and retired NBA player Scot Pollard shared some challenging health news. Pollard revealed on his X account that he is currently on the waiting list for a heart transplant, addressing rumors suggesting he was feigning a health issue.
“Ever been on a heart transplant list and then have someone say you’re faking it? It’s super weird,” Pollard posted. “This photo is from a while back when I was in the emergency heart center… I’m home now waiting for a donor.”
Dawn, Pollard’s wife, also confirmed the gravity of his health struggles over the past three years.
The origin of the false rumors about Pollard’s condition remains unclear, but both he and his wife have unequivocally stated the seriousness of his health situation.
Now 48, Pollard had an 11-season NBA career from 1997-2008, playing with teams including the Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Celtics. Known for his contributions to memorable playoff runs, he averaged 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Pollard, who was a vital part of the Celtics’ 2008 championship team, also stood out during his college years at the University of Kansas.
Beyond his basketball career, Pollard participated in the 32nd season of CBS’s “Survivor” in 2016 and has been known for his outspoken views on certain NBA superstars.
