[Saba Sports News] As the high-octane Test series between India and England draws closer, the mind games have started.
While the Englishmen have already brought the spin-friendly Indian pitches into focus, pacer Ollie Robinson has something to say for Virat Kohli.
The last time Robinson and Kohli met each other in a series, the English quick got the better of the Indian maestro on three occasions.
Remembering India’s 2021 tour of England, Robinson opened up on the hostile welcome he received from the Indian players at Lord’s.
“I actually saw the video of me walking out to bat at Lord’s a couple of days ago. I think [Mohammed] Siraj bowled the ball that hit length and hit me in the chest. And in the video, all the Indian players surround me and Kohli is saying… well, I can’t remember what he said,” Robinson said as quoted to ESPNCricinfo.
Robinson believes that Kohli has a big ego and looks forward to having a duel with him on the field in India.
“You always want to play against the best players, don’t you? And you always want to get the best players out. Kohli is one of those. He’s got a big ego and I think playing on that, especially in India, where he is going to want to dominate and score runs, playing on the fact we’ve had battles in the past, is exciting,” Robinson added.
With Stuart Broad retired, England would want Robinson to step up as the biggest Bazball challenge awaits them. The first Test of the five-match series will commence on January 25 in Hyderabad.
