[Saba Sports News] The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the ICC Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month for December 2023. For the men’s category, three standout players from the ICC World Test Championship are shortlisted.
Australia’s captain Pat Cummins is nominated following a strong performance against Pakistan, marking his first nomination for this award. Taijul Islam from Bangladesh receives his first nomination due to his impactful bowling against New Zealand. Glenn Phillips from New Zealand is the third contender, recognized for his significant contributions in the Test series against Bangladesh.
The women’s shortlist for December features two key Indian players and a Zimbabwean veteran. Precious Marange from Zimbabwe is nominated for her exceptional bowling at the ICC Women’s T20WC Africa Qualifier, including a hat-trick in the final. Jemimah Rodrigues from India is recognized for her consistent batting in Tests and ODIs against England and Australia. Deepti Sharma, another Indian cricketer, completes the list, acknowledged for her all-round performances in Tests and ODIs.
An independent ICC Voting Academy and fans worldwide will cast their votes to determine the winners, to be announced next week. Fans can vote on the ICC website until Saturday.

Men’s Player of the Month: Pat Cummins (Australia), Taijul Islam (Bangladesh), Glenn Phillips (New Zealand)
Women’s Player of the Month: Precious Marange (Zimbabwe), Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma (both India)
Cummins’ nomination comes after an impressive year, capped by a ten-wicket haul in a Test against Pakistan. Taijul Islam’s nomination follows his vital role in Bangladesh’s Test victory over New Zealand. Glenn Phillips is recognized for his crucial batting and bowling efforts in New Zealand’s series draw with Bangladesh.
Marange shone for Zimbabwe, particularly with a hat-trick in the T20WC Africa Qualifier final. Rodrigues displayed her batting prowess in Tests and ODIs, averaging over 60 in December. Sharma’s all-round capabilities were instrumental in India’s successes in Tests and ODIs.
