[Saba Sports News] The recently-concluded Cape Town Test between India and South Africa wrapped in five sessions and 107 overs, making a record of the shortest completed match in the history of the format.
Rohit Sharma and Co. chased the 79-run target given by South Africa with seven wickets remaining as the result came in India’s favour after only 107 overs, which were bowled across both innings of the fixture.
This marked a significant world record as the Test match got completed in the span of 642 deliveries, beating the previous best, which dates back to 1932, when an Australia and South Africa Test lasted only 656 balls.
Several more records also tumbled as the match came to a close on Thursday. India became the only Asian side to defeat South Africa in a Test at the Newlands, Cape Town.
Moreover, Rohit became the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni to draw a Test series on the South African soil.
