[Saba Sports News] The 2024 Formula One
Championship is set to commence in Bahrain on February 29. Prior to the start
of the season, several F1 teams have secured contracts with their lead drivers.
McLaren is among them, having recently signed a multi-year contract extension
with Lando Norris. However, specific details of the contract have not been
disclosed by McLaren. Some media outlets speculate that the agreement may
include a break clause, allowing Norris to assess McLaren’s competitiveness in
light of the introduction of new power unit regulations in 2026. Norris, who
joined McLaren in 2019, has participated in 104 Grand Prix races but has yet to
secure a race victory. In the previous season, he achieved six runner-up
finishes, including a podium finish at the British Grand Prix, where he became
the first McLaren driver since 2010 to achieve such a feat at Silverstone.
Following the contract renewal, Norris expressed his belief in the strength of
the McLaren team and his aspirations to contend for the championship in the
upcoming season. His ultimate goal is to become the F1 world champion alongside
the team.
