[Saba Sports News] Indian captain Rohit Sharma, known for his wit, gave a humorous response during the post-match press conference following India’s win against South Africa in Cape Town on January 4. After a defeat in the first Test in Centurion, India bounced back to secure a seven-wicket victory in the second Test.
When a reporter inquired about his T20I career and the upcoming series against Afghanistan, Rohit playfully responded, “Dimaag laga rahe ho aap (You are using your brain)…let’s concentrate on Cape Town now”. This response reflects the anticipation surrounding the inclusion of senior players like Rohit and Virat Kohli in the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan, scheduled for January 11, 14, and 17.
Rohit also reflected on the significance of the Cape Town victory, considering it as one of India’s best Test wins. He remarked that while it’s challenging to compare different Test victories, each having its unique importance, the Cape Town win is highly significant, especially as India had never won there before. He mentioned the historic victory at Gabba in 2020-21, underlining the difficulty in ranking such achievements but acknowledging the importance of winning at such a prestigious venue. He praised the team’s effort and highlighted the victory’s value in the context of Indian cricket history.
