[Saba Sports News] Ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Sunrisers Hyderabad has initiated a significant change in their leadership, appointing Australian pace spearhead Pat Cummins as their new captain, replacing Aiden Markram.
This move follows the franchise’s record-breaking decision to secure Cummins for an impressive INR 20.5 crore during the IPL 2024 auction, marking him as the second-highest purchase in the history of the tournament.
Eager to leverage Cummins’ leadership, especially after his triumphant 2023 leading Australia to ODI World Cup and World Test Championship glory, SRH introduced him as the captain in a celebratory social media announcement, with the caption, “#OrangeArmy! Our new skipper Pat Cummins 🧡“.
The change comes after Markram’s tenure saw SRH finishing last in the 2023 season, securing only four victories in 14 games, prompting the franchise to opt for a fresh strategic direction under Cummins’ captaincy.
